Donate with us: the Mexicali Match makes every gift go twice as far

The Erskine family made the long walk through the valley this spring to visit the school they helped dZi to build. They have seen firsthand just how hard it is for help to reach this part of Nepal and how great the need for that help really is. They have met the children in these valleys and seen the joy and opportunity that a safe, secure school provides them.

The students of Rok, Solukhumbu live a day’s walk from the nearest road and a two-day walk from any kind of medical care. They are a resilient, self-reliant people, but almost a third of the structures in their community were destroyed by the earthquake. Their children have been without a school for years and the lack of a safe learning space can set a village back for generations.

To make up for lost time—and to make an even bigger difference—the Mexicali Blues World of Goods Program is matching all donations to the dZi Foundation dollar for dollar, up to $25,000. The #MexicaliMatch makes every gift go twice as far. By doubling the donations to dZi, we can rebuild the Janajagriti School twice as fast.

At Mexicali Blues, world goods do a world of good.

When Nepal needed us to give our all after the terrible earthquakes of 2015, Mexicali Blues customers purchased prayer flags to fund $25,000 in desperately needed donations. When remote regions still lacked the resources to rebuild, Mexicali Blues stepped up to support the construction of a new school built by the dZi Foundation in the struggling Solu Valley.

The committed volunteers of the dZi Foundation work hand-in-hand with locals in the most remote and ravaged regions of the country to rebuild the things that will restore communities: bridges, healthcare centers, and schools. They are doing good work, but they lack much-needed resources like building supplies. In 2016, Mexicali Blues and their customers gave $32,000 to support them.
